Poznań Poland is compact, walkable, and still one of Europe’s best-kept secrets. Most of what you’ll want to see, the Old Market Square, the famous (and hilarious) goat clock, the cathedral, the city museum, are close enough together that where you stay really comes down to priorities more than geography. Are you looking for full amenities, a dog-friendly room, Old Town proximity, historic character if you want something memorable, or a solid good rate if you’re keeping costs down.

Where We Stay in Poznan
Sheraton Poznań – Best for Comfort, Amenities, and Dog-Friendly Stays
We’ve stayed at the Sheraton Poznań more times than any other hotel on this list, at least four or five visits at this point, always with our french bulldog Helga in tow. It’s about a 20 minute walk to the Old Market Square, further than some of our other picks, but we’ve never minded the walk since Poznań’s architecture makes the route interesting the whole way.
If you come to Poznan during Christmas market season, know that the markets are actually spread across three locations, the Old Market Square, Plac Wolności, and the MTP fairgrounds. The Sheraton sits directly across the street from MTP. So while it’s a walk from the main square, it’s about as close as you can get to one of the market sites.
Rooms are very comfortable and well-equipped: a stocked mini-fridge, a Keurig-style coffee maker, robes, slippers, even a shoe horn. Request a room facing the street side if you want a view over the old Historyland building (Lego Museum) and the streetcars, it’s oddly captivating, and you’ll get a nice sunset too.
Bathrooms are modern and spacious, though (as in many European hotels) the only outlet in was the razor-only kind, so hair tools mean stepping back into the room.
Breakfast is one of the best parts of staying here: a huge buffet with fresh baked goods, an omelette bar, and two local specialties we haven’t found anywhere else, herbed cottage cheese and herring in tomato sauce. It runs 150 PLN per person (about $38), on the higher end, but the quality and quantity backs it up. I never need lunch if I have breakfast there!
The sixth floor lounge is also worth knowing about, a nightly buffet of soup, salads, and finger foods for the same 150 PLN that’s more than once become dinner on its own.

Parking is available in the underground garage for 150 PLN a day (about $38), reservation required, with an EV charging station on site. Helga always finds a plush dog bed and bowls waiting in the room, and the front desk hands out a little map of the best nearby green spots for walks. The dog fee runs 75 PLN per day (under $20).
Staff here consistently go above and beyond, and it’s the one hotel on this list we keep coming back to. Plus it has an indoor pool, a gym, airport shuttle – the works.

My husband stayed here on a trip without Helga and me, and the location is the standout: about two minutes on foot from the photogenic Old Market Square, versus the Sheraton’s 20 minute walk. If you’re not traveling with a dog and want to be right in the middle of everything, this is the pick.
Rooms are modern with a comfortable bed, a 42-inch TV, and a proper workspace (which he appreciated), and breakfast is included in the rate rather than charged separately, a real difference from the Sheraton. There’s a fitness center, a 24-hour front desk, and private parking on site, though one guest review noted the parking garage’s elevator was tight for a larger vehicle, worth keeping in mind if you’ve got something bigger than a compact.
If you’re chasing Hilton Honors points, this is the easy way to do it in Poznań. One thing worth knowing straight up: it’s not dog-friendly, so if you’re traveling with a pet, this one’s off the list.

Ratuszova: Best Splurge, Character, Right on the Square
If you want to sleep inside a piece of Poznań’s history, Ratuszova is worth the extra cost. The building dates back over 700 years, sits right on the Old Market Square, and the ground floor restaurant is one we’d recommend on its own merits. Much of the square was rebuilt in brick after a major fire swept through in 1471, which makes buildings like this one, still standing centuries later, worth appreciating for more than just the view.
Upstairs, the apartments come with queen and sofa beds, room service delivered straight from the restaurant downstairs, and yes, they’re pet-friendly. I just discovered that, so this place is top of my list for next time!
We’ve eaten there several times, and the charm of the restaurant and the building itself is off the charts! The food is also fantastic, and there are indoor and outdoor dining options right on the square with the best view in town.
Even at splurge pricing, Poznań’s affordability means this doesn’t come close to what a comparable historic property would cost in Western Europe, one of the underrated perks of choosing Poznań in the first place.

Stay99 Apart Wodna – Best Budget-friendly, Kitchenette
If keeping costs down matters most, I did a bunch of research and Stay99 Apart Wodna would absolutely be my pick. It’s a legitimate budget option, and the kitchenette sets it apart from a standard budget hotel room. Each apartment comes with air conditioning, a private bathroom, and a full kitchenette with a stovetop, fridge, and kettle, useful if you want to save on meals or just make your own coffee in the morning.
The best part is that it’s close to the action too, only about a 5-minute walk to the Old Market Square and Town Hall, closer than several of our other picks. Rooms run roughly $41 to $69 a night depending on dates. Private parking can be arranged nearby for an extra charge.
One thing worth knowing before you book: this property does not allow pets, so if you’re traveling with a dog, this isn’t the pick for you.
